Folks - I have been offered and decided to accept a very nice promotion package with my company. It comes with a transfer to sunny Florida, which the whole family is very excited about. I have enjoyed my tenure here in Montana and only hope that I have left a positive impression on it equal to a fraction of the positive impression it has left on me. I don't know what all awaits me between now and then - but I fully expect to be back in Montana at some point in my life. For now though, let this serve as good bye. I want to thank you one and all for the participation, dicusssion and debate. I have not completely decided what to do with the site - though I am pretty sure that unless someone wants to keep and maintain it - I am going to tear it down. Any takers? If I dont hear from anyone in the next week or so - expect its disappearance. Read 3 Comments... >> |

Hey it looks like the CIA agrees with what I stated months ago. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/06/15/cia-head-suggests-cheney-hoping-for-terrorist-attack/ Terrorist Taunting extreme right winger Cheney. Not only can he be classified as a terroist taunter, but I think he is a terrorist! This guy makes me ill when I think of all the harm he has caused the American people in the past. I only hope and pray that he never causes any pain for our future. Read 3 Comments... >> |

August 27, 2007 in Lexington, Kentucky -- Candidate Obama speaks out against the practice of mountaintop removal coal mining saying that we need to find better and more responsible ways to mine than simply blowing the tops off mountains. Mountaintop removal mining must be halted. Jump ahead to May 15, 2009 -- less than two years after that campaign speech. Obama's EPA clears 42 of 48 mountaintop removal permits that have been under review claiming no significant environmental damage is foreseen by allowing these operations to continue. The environmental policies of George W. Bush are apparently alive, well, and thriving. Read 0 Comments... >> |

I've always liked what Howard Zinn has had to say. He's been a strong voice for a lot of years now. Here's a new piece he wrote for The Progressive. Rather than drone on about it, I'll just let you read it here. Read 0 Comments... >> |

I don't remember hearing much about this one a few years back. Could be I just missed it, or maybe it was never given much mention in the press. Probably just me. Anyway, remember Paul Bremer? He was of course the head of the provisiional authority in Iraq following the takeover. While he was in charge he pushed through his infamous 100 orders, one of which was Order 81. Order 81 was basically a takeover of the Iraqi agricultural system by US corporate interests, particularly Monsanto, and in effect forces Iraqi farmers, who for centuries have relied on local seed stocks, local farming practices, and seed exchanges to buy into Monsanto's patented seeds programs. Annual payments must be made to Monsanto, and farmers can't save seeds for the following year. They're forced to buy in every year. Non-compliance carries stiff fines and possible imprisonment. You can read more detailed info in a recent Green Party news release. We've all heard about the dreamed of takeover of the world's agricultural systems by the likes of Monsanto and a few other players. It is happening elsewhere too, not only in Iraq. Iraq is more or less a prototype. Plans for implementing similar programs world-wide, including the US, are still in the works. Next Sunday, April 26, is International Seeds Day, a day of action to counter GM foods, raise awareness of and resistance to the attempts to patent our food chain, promote local, independent and organic food growing, and to push for the repeal of Order 81 on the fifth anniversary of it's implementation. There is information in the GP news release. It's well worth checking out if you happen to like to eat. Read 2 Comments... >> |
